Details of FoBBS A.G.M. - 2021

FoBBS welcomes Bonsai clubs back to the ''New Norm'' whatever that may turn out to be.
After almost an eighteen month suspension of activity, most clubs are preparing to commence regular meetings again or have actually started. Similarly, FoBBS is back on the scene to support clubs and promote our wonderful hobby of Bonsai in any way possible.
We have with great regret had to accept the resignation of our chairman David Cheshire due to pressure of work. We thank him for his commitment over the past three years. You will see a new signature at the foot of this letter Peter Fielding as acting chairman. If a suitably qualified enthusiastic person has a burning desire to be chairman of FoBBS or be part of a newly formed committee, please put yourself forward at the forthcoming AGM.
The AGM had to be delayed due to Covid 19 but will now take place on Sunday, September 12th in The Louden Suite at the Botanical Gardens in Birmingham (B15 3TR) at 11.00 am. Details, including nomination forms are linked in this communication.
As in the past, FoBBS member clubs will be offered public liability insurance at a very advantageous rate. I should add that any club that meets in a place with public access must have such insurance; furthermore, all show organizers should ask to see this of exhibitors.
We hope that R.H.S. Chelsea Flower Show will continue to be a showcase for “Bonsai in Britain” as it has previously been and is organized by FoBBS. We would like any club that feels it has Bonsai of the quality suitable for Chelsea exhibiting to put them forward, as photographs in the first instance.
There has been a suggestion we should promote at least one Show a year at which all member clubs would be invited to display. The first of these is being planned for 2022.
If member clubs have any other suggestions as to how FoBBS can promote Bonsai in Britain please make your thoughts known to myself or other Committee members.
Peter Fielding,
Acting Chairman
Federation of British Bonsai Societies.
