Collection - No 8English ElmThe English Elm is becoming rare rare in the wild due to Dutch Elm disease, though easily dealt with using systemic fungicides when trees are small. The trees have small bright green oval foliage making them a favourite among bonsai growers,; the bark is a silver grey which forms fine fissures when old. General CareAlways use a systemic fungicide to protect from Dutch elm disease, never let soil dry out even during winter months, protect from frosts when the tree is small. Feed well once the leaves have opened then reduce as mid-summer approaches. They have vigorous roots so check every season for repotting needs.
