Collection - No 7History of this Cedrus atlantica(Blue Atlas cedar)A difficulty encountered initially was to disguise the top of the trunk where it had been cut to reduce the height at the time it was collected. This entailed creating a new apex from the uppermost branch and allowing it to divide and extend over about a five year period. In the new growing medium, the tree gradually established a strong root system together with foliage mass. Ten years after being collected, the tree was donated to the National Bonsai Collection. Having spent a few years developing in a bonsai pot, a shallow fibreglass tray, some four feet in length was made specifically for it and that is where the tree has remained ever since.
